Chewy Autoship Reversal

Chewy's Autoship subscription system went into reverse on January 28, 2024. A billing logic error meant that recurring Autoship orders applied negative pricing, effectively paying customers to receive their pet supplies. Instead of being charged, members received credits with each scheduled delivery.

Bandar's Bounties caught the reversal at 6:45 AM EST when members with existing Autoship orders reported receiving payment credits instead of charges. The team sent an alert to set up new Autoship subscriptions immediately.

Members activated Autoship on premium pet food, treats, medications, and supplies. Each order generated a $30-$50 credit instead of a charge. Some members set up Autoship on dozens of items, creating a recurring revenue stream from their pet supply orders.

Chewy's billing team patched the reversal by 11 AM and corrected future billing cycles, but all credits that had already posted to accounts remained valid. Members used them for months of free pet supplies.
