Store credit applied twice during checkout
Credit Power
The PlayStation Store's checkout system developed an echo bug on March 30, 2024 that applied wallet credit twice during the payment step. A $50 PSN wallet balance showed $100 in spending power. The credit was deducted once, then re-applied as a discount.
Bandar's Bounties members were the first to notice at 1:15 AM EST when late-night game shoppers reported their wallets stretching further than expected. The team confirmed the double-application and sent the alert.
Members loaded their PSN wallets and went shopping. $25 in credit bought $50 worth of games. PS Plus Premium subscriptions, newly released titles, and DLC packs were all accessible at half their effective cost. The PS Store was essentially running a 50% off sale nobody knew about.
Sony's backend team fixed the wallet calculation by 4 AM. All purchases made during the echo window were final — games were added to libraries and subscriptions activated. No rollbacks occurred.
Digital storefront glitches can be subtle but incredibly valuable. Bandar's Bounties monitors gaming platforms alongside traditional retailers.
